Between November 2015 and March 2017 Borderline Sicilia has been the Italian partner in the transnational project “Controversies in Migration Policies: The Concession of Protection Versus Border Control (KideM), supported by the EU within the “Europe for Citizens” program of the EACEA (Education, Audiovisual & Culture Executive Agency).

The controversies in European migration politices regarding the issue of so-called “illegal entrance” displays a fundamental conflict within European values: the search for protection from persecution is meeting limits which render access for the various procedures for protection and asylum practically impossible.

Along with borderline-europe (Germany), Asyl in Not (Austria) and Dictio (Greece), Borderline Sicilia has engaged in a project of research and organised public events in which sthis conflict has been examined in relation to each country. The project has produced the report “Criminalisation of Flight and Escape Aid”, available, along with other material, on the website: www.criming.wordpress.com.
